NOTE

LYRICS

Dockan pođo(h) iz Novoga Sada,
dockan pođo(h) iz Novoga Sada,*
oj, Jovane, moj đerdane,
ta, moj mili dragane.
Oj, Jovane, moj đerdane,
ta, moj mili dragane.

Dockan pođo(h) iz Novoga Sada,
sreto(h) Maru u tesnom sokaku,
ja joj rek’o po dva po tri puta:
– More, Maro, svrni mi sas** puta!
Al’ je Маrа žeravica ljuta,
ne htede mi svrnuti sas puta.
Otkide mi dugme sa kaputa,
a ja njojzi šlingeraj sa skuta.

MANUSCRIPT

60. Dockan pođoh iz Novog Sadalyrics of the song, Battonya (Batanja), manuscript; VT_Dig_00014_002

*Editors’ note: Here, the lyrics are completed by inserting repetitions of the main verse and of the refrain, according to the notation and to the audio field recording (Nr. 081. in the Supplement.). Though in the first edition it is written “se s puta”, and in manuscript of the lyrics “sa puta” (see Figure 60), the solution “sas puta” we applied according to the field sound recording, where this form of the proposition is clearly heard.
