Comment: Recorded in Budakalász (Kalaz). – Published transcription (nr. 271) of the Collection refers to the performing of a malo (small, normal) kolo from 1968. Examples of the instrumental dance music, which also illustrates traditional dancing event, as performing of a sequence of dances, in this case – “widening” of a social dimension, from dance of the men to (gender-)mixed dance (malo kolo). Presented kolos are common part of the repertoire of different groups of South Slavs in Panonian region. Performance in the reduced formation – prim and kontra – clearly points to the traditional relationship between melody and (simple) harmonisation. Tempo of the performing is probably conditioned by the level of players’ technique, but also by the experience regarding the desirable tempo of music as base for the dance.
